Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers reached a high of nearly 750,000. However, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are required to unlock specific weapons.

Gamers have begun using tailored sessions made via the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how arduous these assignments have become.

Grasping BF6 Objectives

Missions serve as Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four classes of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the only way of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one key firearms available in the game.

Several of these locked weapons might eventually earn a place on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are justifiably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and completely out of mind, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which is seldom the location you want to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that challenge would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Task

Another Reddit user pointed out a further incredibly demanding challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with sniper rifles

This is tough enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game at present, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and possibly an additional option in a best-case scenario if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.

The Bypass

Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to create personalized matches on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the spirit of the game.

But when completing the missions in a proper game feels like anti-playing, since you are forced to participate in such an unorthodox manner that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Potential Changes

It is expected if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

For now, the community continues to voice their opinions on these challenging multiplayer missions, expecting a fairer overall gameplay in future updates.
