But, Glasgow responded well with two tries before half-time. Forward Gregor Hiddleston and flanker Rory Darge both went over to narrow the deficit.

Additional after the break scores from Kyle Steyn and Stafford McDowall extended the Warriors' advantage to 26-14. A late reply for the hosts set up a nervous finish, but Glasgow held firm to claim a significant first-round victory.

Warriors Seize Initiative After Half-Time

Play started with a quick try as skipper Ernst van Rhyn drove over from short distance after just two minutes. An early knock to midfielder Ma'asi-White brought teenager Ollie Davies into the fray for his cup debut.

The youngster made an instant impact. Moving to fly-half, he ran a good angle to collect an pass and score, extending the home side's advantage.

Against challenging weather, the Warriors used their forward power to get back into the game. A powerful line-out drive was finished by front-rower Hiddleston. Just before the break, Darge barged over, with Adam Hastings' conversion making it a two-point deficit at the interval.

The Scottish club seized the advantage for the first occasion soon after the second half. A misjudged kick was gathered by No. 8 Dempsey, who set up skipper Steyn to burst through a challenge and sprint to the try-line.

With in the ascendancy, they clinched the fourth try when McDowall powered past a defender to celebrate his century for the club. This try capped a sequence of twenty-six unanswered points.

The hosts found a late hope when Louw used neat skills to cross. The conversion made it a five-point game with minutes left.

One last chance arose for them from a line-out in the 22, but they failed to secure the possession, sealing Glasgow's triumph.
