Emma Raducanu reached the third round in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments of the year as a result of the illness she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover before starting her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together again next season.

She required blood pressure checks during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after more than three years for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 victories in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
