The Actress States Speaking About Donald Trump Would ‘Add Fuel to a Fire’ Tearing the Nation Apart

Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels fitting to voice opinions regarding the Trump administration, worried it could exacerbate divisive discussions and further divisions throughout the country.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Says Lawrence

In a recent interview, the Oscar winner shared, “During the first Trump administration, I thought I was running around without clear direction. But as we’ve learned, election after election, public figures have no real impact at all on who people vote for.”

Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just expressing personal views on an issue that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the country apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has previously been open about supporting conservative and liberal candidates throughout her life. Raised by conservative Republicans in Kentucky, she voted for John McCain in the 2008 election prior to switching to the Democratic party and revealing she realized during the Obama era that supporting the GOP was voting against her personal freedoms as a woman.

Past Statements

Several years ago, she remarked that a Trump victory might signal “a disaster” and endorsed Joe Biden in the 2020 election. In the latest campaign, she voiced her backing to Vice President Harris, “because I think she’s a strong contender and I know that she will take all necessary steps to safeguard women’s health rights.”

Celebrity Views

The star was aligned with many in the entertainment industry in her opposition to the former president as a candidate for re-election, but the limited influence celebrities have over the public choices was highlighted by Trump’s victory.

“This upcoming term appears changed,” commented Lawrence of his leadership. “Since he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for the previous administration. He was very clear. And voters made that decision.”

Jennifer Lawrence is highlighting Die, My Love, director Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she portrays a recent parent who struggles with her psychological well-being in the countryside. At a press conference for the film in the film festival, she spoke about the conflict in Gaza: “I’m terrified. It’s mortifying. What’s happening is no less than a genocide and it’s terrible.”

Additional Thoughts

She continued by saying that she was disappointed by “the disrespect in the discussions of U.S. political debates at present and how that is going to be normalised to the children now. It’s going to be standard to them that elected officials deceive.”

The actor aimed to shift anger about the conflict to decision-makers rather than entertainers. “Keep attention on the people in charge,” she said, which was interpreted as a nod to the declaration endorsed by thousands of arts community members to avoid Israeli film institutions.

Individual Insights

Jennifer Lawrence, who won an Oscar aged 22 for her part in the acclaimed film, is generating Oscar buzz for her work in the new film. Even though Ramsay has rejected the narrative being understood as one of maternal mental health issues and mental illness, the actress revealed that she did relate to elements of her role’s experience after the delivery of her new baby, not long after production wrapped.

“I felt anxiety about my child,” she explained, “imagining every negative outcome, and then questioning everything that I was doing. I was seeing a therapist, but I got on a medication called that medicine and I took it for 14 days and it was effective.”

Film Challenges

Jennifer Lawrence also mentioned of the empowering aspect of shooting revealing sequences in the film while she was in pregnancy and couldn’t work out.

“It’s refreshing,” she said, of being forced to abandon insecurities. “Truly, I sometimes think where I’m like, What technically are the differences between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
