Three Athletes Shortlisted for Young Sports Personality Honour

Announced recently

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts prodigy Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been named as finalists for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.

The three finalists have been recognised for their outstanding achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the very first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.

Littler was the recipient in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The shortlisted athletes were announced live on a national radio breakfast show.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the prestigious sports ceremony show on the 18th of December.

The ceremony will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.

Michelle Agyemang

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Only 90 days after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a dramatic and decisive role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the best young player in Europe.

She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.

"To be named a finalist for this honour is incredible," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

Littler's 2025 began in incredible form as - aged 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His follow-up triumph at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth competitor to complete the prestigious three major tournament wins.

And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Being nominated for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a special memory for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue elevating darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and burst into the spotlight with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin finished second in the batting rankings and was named PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.
